The World Jewellery Confederation’s (CIBJO) annual congress, to be held in Dubai this month, will discuss challenges the jewelry industry is facing in terms of corporate and social responsibility in the diamond, gem and jewelry industry supply pipeline.Industry standards, specifically the nomenclature of gem-quality synthetic diamonds, and a draft of the new CIBJO Blue Book for Precious Metals, will also be addressed.
The theme of the event will be “Implementing the internationally agreed Millennium Development Goals and commitments in regard to Sustainable Development” and it will feature speakers such as Hanifa Mezoui, chief NGO Section/DESA, Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations, and Cecile Molinier, director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The Congress, to be held April 14-16 at the Grosvenor House hotel, will be sponsored by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre.
