The Organizers of a Hong Kong jewellery trade fair have renamed the 2009 Jewellery Fair to enhance and reflect a wider gem aspect of the show.
Formerly known as the Hong Kong Jewellery & Watch Fair, the biannual event will now be referred to as the Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair. The June and September editions of the show in 2009 will be using the new name, organizers CMP Asia said.
The Director Celine Lau of jewellery fairs at CMP Asia said“ As the most important trade event for the global jewellery trade, the exhibit profile of the fair is very different from 26 years ago when it started with the September edition,Materials like diamonds, gemstones and pearls are of increasing importance alongside fine jewellery, so it is time to change the name of the fair so that exhibitors and visitors know the profile of the fair.”
CMP said it anticipate that the September 2009 show will attract 3000 exhibitors. The organizers pledged to increase their marketing spending to promote the new direction of the fair.
The June Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair is scheduled to be held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre from June 18 to 21, 2009.
