The rumors of reliable engineering sources have it that the mining sector might have been neglected. It has it that the engineering workmanship is potentially not up to date.

Due to the BEE (Black empowerment) policy of South Africa and its job redistribution program, the implications of employ by inexperienced mining engineers to maintain the stability of mines in South Africa might have been disregarded. There were a few setbacks in mining industry due to some accidents in the underground mining operations recently.

In the last few years’ accidents have increased a great deal and little has been done to bring the issues to rest. Most incidents were swiftly settled and closed.  The employment of young engineers seems to be in order if five thousand lives depends on their skills to maintain the engineering side of the mines.

The main issue to be seen that is lacking, is the coming financial implications if the mines become un-operational or too dangerous to operate. This is not withstanding the global economical implications it might have.

It is unimaginable the implications on the world stock markets if this is not addressed immediately by the South Africa Mining sector. South Africa is after all, it is the largest producer of platinum and gold. These problems the global public has experienced before in the neighboring countries of South Africa.

Some rumors has it that it might already be too late to correct these issues due to many of the experienced mining engineers whom have relocated or been re-employed in other sectors outside Africa.

Any mining engineer with a twenty-year or more experience is almost guaranteed an employment outside South Africa.  This is as result to the high demands in such skills in the underground mining sector and deficiency thereof.
